The Eglinton Crosstown is a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with a 10-kilmetre underground tunnel in its central section. What we are building?
What: In this phase of construction, crews will be building the headwalls for the future Avenue Station. Headwalls are underground support walls located at the east and west ends of the station location. Following the site preparation, crews will be installing these underground station headwalls in advance of the twin tunnel construction. Read more »
What we are building
What: Construction of the headwalls for the future Avenue station requires a grout plant to be established nearby to pump a form of concrete, otherwise known as “grout”, to the station headwall location. In order to minimize road occupancy on Eglinton Avenue West this grout plant will be located within a section on Highbourne Road, south of Eglinton. Some road adjustments will take place to accommodate the grout plant. Read more »

What: A cross passage is a tunnel cut between two other parallel tunnels required for maintenance or emergency purposes. Crews will be building one headwall for the future cross-passage required for future maintenance of the tunnels. Read more »
