What we are building
What: A cross passage is a tunnel cut between two other parallel tunnels required for maintenance or emergency purposes. Crews will be building one headwall for the future cross-passage required for future maintenance of the tunnels. Read more »
What: Maximum 3 hour parking will be allowed on Tarlton Road for the duration of this phase of construction on Eglinton Avenue.
Why: On-street parking will not be available within the vicinity of construction along Eglinton Avenue between Bathurst Street and Avenue Road. To alleviate the loss of parking on Eglinton Avenue during construction, the City of Toronto, in collaboration with Metrolinx, will be adjusting the parking restrictions in certain sections to accommodate parking for the neighbourhood and businesses. Transforming transit across the middle of Toronto is a significant undertaking and requires a lot of coordination. Construction is visible along the Eglinton corridor and on many side streets while we work to build this important transit project. In some cases, there will be short-term local street closures, turning and parking restrictions to allow for the construction to take place. Read more »
What we are building?
What: In this phase of construction, crews will be building the west headwalls for the future Avenue Station. Headwalls are underground support walls located at the east and west ends of the station location. Following the site preparation, crews will be installing these underground station headwalls in advance of the arrival of the tunnel boring machines to the area. Work on the east headwalls began in January and is still ongoing. Read more »
What we are building
What: Construction of the headwalls for the future Avenue station requires a grout plant to be established nearby to pump a form of concrete, otherwise known as “grout”, to the station headwall location. In order to minimize road occupancy on Eglinton Avenue West this grout plant will be located within a section on Highbourne Road, south of Eglinton. Some road adjustments will take place to accommodate the grout plant. Read more »
