What Work is Taking Place?
Overnight lane reduction to a single lane of traffic on Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Leslie Street will be required for two nights, as crews drill boreholes in the road to determine the condition of existing soil and rocks in the area. Boreholes will be drilled along Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Leslie Street in advance of the construction of Laird and Science Centre Stations. Read more »
Construction of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT line, including 15 underground stations, is underway. Since the end of school, many construction sites have been set up for station construction and the set-up of some major intersections along Eglinton Avenue has been changed.

For the tunnelled portion, locomotives run along interim track and transport materials and haul spoils in and out of the tunnels to the extraction shafts. As you may know, the Eglinton Crosstown LRT Project includes a 10-kilometre underground portion. Two Tunnel Boring Machines (or “TBMs”) are building the 3.5km eastern underground section of the Crosstown tunnels between Brentcliffe Road and Yonge Street. The TBMs are making great progress tunneling at an average rate of over 10-15 metres per day. They have completed approximately 70% of their journey and expected to be at Yonge Street in early September. Read more »

What: Crews will be conducting roadway surface reconstruction on Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Leslie Street. During this work, Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to one lane only for both directions of traffic. On average, the tunnel boring machines each travel approximately 10-15 metres per day. TBMs are working approximately 16-20 metres below ground, but we sometimes hear from nearby residents who may experience noise and vibration from the TBMs as they pass through the area. Read more »
