Sewer Lining Activities at Avenue Station - Bypass Installation & Lining Operations


The entire sewer lining process will take approximately 4 – 6 weeks to complete.

Sewer bypass work takes place in the daytime construction hours.

Sewer lining work takes place on a 24 hour schedule.

Overnight Work in the South Parking Lot at Kennedy Station

What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the ongoing work to construct Kennedy Station, crews will install temporary light poles and lines in the South Parking Lot starting as early as October 11, 2017. The work will be performed overnight in an effort to minimize disruption to the public and transit users.

Mining at Avenue Station

Mining is expected to begin in November 2017, and will carry on through to late 2019.

What Work is Happening?

The Eglinton Crosstown includes a 10-kilometre underground portion, between Weston Road and Laird Drive, where 15 below-grade stations are under construction. Eleven will be built using a “cut-and cover” method and four, including Avenue Station, are going to be “mined.” 

Excavation of the entrances at Avenue Station is nearing completion and mining will begin soon. Read more »

Closure of Taunton Road for Storm Sewer Installation at Mount Pleasant Station

What Work is Taking Place?

Since spring 2017, crews have been performing support of excavation (shoring) in the vicinity of Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East.  Shoring of the station box, located in the roadway, is currently underway on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East.  In preparation of shoring on the south side of the station box, crews will install new storm sewer infrastructure. What Work is Taking Place?


  • Next week, two nights of overnight work are required and one early morning concrete pour is planned.
  • Minimal noise is expected from both pieces of work.
  • Work may be delayed due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Overnight Work and Lane Reductions to Install Centre Line Dewatering Wells on Eglinton for Avenue Station

What Work is Taking Place?

The term “dewatering” means pumping water from the ground at a site where there will be excavation and is essential before and during upcoming mining operations at Avenue Station. The dewatering system is installed in two phases, drilling of the wells and then digging shallow trenches to connect the wells and lay the pipes, pumps, and valves for the system. Read more »

Mount Dennis Station: Watermain & Fire Hydrant Connections


What Work is Taking Place?

As part of continued construction of the Mount Dennis Station crews will be working within the centre lane of Eglinton Avenue West from Weston Road to Black Creek Drive to complete watermain and fire hydrant connections.

This work will occur overnight beginning October 9, 2017 between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. and is expected to take approximately two (2) weeks. Read more »

Tunnel Backfilling Brentcliffe Road to Laird Drive

What Work is Taking Place?

To support the ongoing mining works at the future Laird Station, a layer of backfill (granular material) will be added to the base of the existing tunnel from the Brentcliffe Portal to Laird Drive. 

Backfill material will be stockpiled and then be pushed in to the tunnel at Brentcliffe Portal and inside the tunnels towards Laird Drive. Compaction of the material will occur inside of the tunnels. Read more »

Geotechnical Equipment Installations and Monitoring on Thursfield Crescent for the Brentcliffe Portal and Surface Stops

What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the ongoing construction works for the future Brentcliffe Portal and Surface Stops, above ground and in-ground monitoring points will be installed on the City Right-of-Way, which may include the roadway, sidewalks and/or driveways on Thursfield Crescent.

Once installed, the instruments will remain at these locations for the length of the project. Monitoring allows crews to evaluate the impact of construction works. Read more »
