As you may know, the Eglinton Crosstown LRT Project includes a 10-kilometre underground portion. Two Tunnel Boring Machines (or “TBMs”) are building the 3.5km eastern underground section of the Crosstown tunnels between Brentcliffe Road and Yonge Street. The TBMs are making great progress tunneling at an average rate of over 10-15 metres per day. They have completed approximately 70% of their journey and expected to be at Yonge Street in early September. Read more »

The Crosstown team appreciates the patience of our neighbours and local businesses while we work to build new rapid transit. This is an update to let you know that bore hole activities that have been taking place near the future Don Mills Station since mid-December 2015 will continue to the week of January 11, 2016.

Starting in mid-December, a work crew will be seen in the vicinity of the future Don Mills Station conducting survey, locating utilities, and drilling boreholes to obtain additional information of sub-surface utilities and ground conditions. Read more »
As you know, tunnelling continues on the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) project as we build the underground portion of the future transit line.
The tunnel boring machines (TBMs) operate around the clock - 24 hours a day, seven days week. On average, they each travel about 10 metres per day. Our TBMs are working about 20 metres below ground, but we do sometimes hear from nearby residents who may experience vibration from the TBMs as they pass through the area. Read more »
