TRAFFIC CONFIGURATION CHANGE Emergency Exit 3 – Eglinton and Donlea

Crews are currently completing final utility relocations, backfill and restoration works in the existing construction site on the south side of Eglinton Avenue at Donlea Drive.  As early as Sunday October 6th, the construction zone will shift to the north side of Eglinton Avenue. The new construction zone will allow for the completion of utility relocations, backfill and road restoration. Following the work, all lanes will be restored, and the construction zone will be removed. A small emergency exit building will be permanently in place on the boulevard. Read more »

Bell Utility Relocations and Watermain Investigations for Leaside Station

What Work is Taking Place?

Beginning as early as December 11th, Bell utility relocations and watermain investigations will take place in the vicinity of Eglinton Avenue East and Bayview Avenue. Works are short duration and will begin within the existing work zone at the main entrance. Work taking place outside the existing work zone will occur on Eglinton Avenue, east of the main entrance. Emergency Exit Shaft near Leaside Station: Tunnel Invert Concrete Pour

What Work is Taking Place?

To prepare for track system installation in the new LRT tunnels, concrete must be poured to form the foundation of the track. The emergency exit site in front of Leaside High School will be used as the access points to the tunnels.

Trucks will access the tunnel shaft from the construction site entrance near Bessborough Drive, pump concrete into a pipe, and drive the concrete down the tunnel to where it will be poured into place. Read more »

Pedestrian Safety near Construction Sites

The tunnelled section between Brentcliffe Road and Black Creek Drive is complete, and last year, construction activities began at all 15 underground stations including Kennedy Station. The preparatory works at the at-grade portion of the line, between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Station, also started this summer. Since the end of school, many work zones have been set up for construction and some major intersections along Eglinton Avenue have changed.

Cross Passage Construction: Rumsey Road Stages 1, 2 and 3

What

A cross passage is a small passageway built to connect the eastbound and westbound tunnels for maintenance and emergency purposes. Dewatering equipment is used at street level on Eglinton Avenue above the cross passage location. Dewatering is the process of removing groundwater from around the tunnel level below. The dewatering equipment will be in place for the duration of the building of the cross passage. Read more »
