Since June 2017, crews have been upgrading and relocating existing hydro utilities in the area located just west of Birchmount Road to Kennedy Road in the vicinity of Eglinton Avenue East. To complete this work, a Hydro outage is required.

We have been busy building you the new 19-kilometre Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit (LRT) line!
This has involved lots of moving parts — excavations at future stations, relocating and upgrading utilities, road widening, and center-medians removal work for future stops.

The tunnelled section between Brentcliffe Road and Black Creek Drive is complete, and last year, construction activities began at all 15 underground stations including Kennedy Station. The preparatory works at the at-grade portion of the line, between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Station, also started this summer. Since the end of school, many work zones have been set up for construction and some major intersections along Eglinton Avenue have changed.

The surface section of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT will run down the centre of Eglinton Avenue East in dedicated transit lanes at street level. To prepare for the construction of the surface section, crews are working to get the roadway ready.
Setting up the construction work zones in the roadway will require changes to how car and truck, bus, and pedestrian traffic flows along Eglinton Avenue East and the associated intersections where future stops will be located. What Work is Taking Place?
• Crews will begin relocation of existing telecommunication lines along Eglinton Avenue East, between Birchmount Road and Treverton Drive.
• Telecommunication lines within utility chambers as well within pre-existing duct banks will be relocated in preparation for station construction.
• All work conducted during this phase will occur within the public boulevards.
