What Work is Taking Place?
• In June 2016, crews began SUE investigation in the vicinity of Kennedy Station along Eglinton Avenue East between Kennedy Road and Midland Avenue, including North Service Road, to determine the location and depth of existing utilities.
• This work continues, and similar work will begin at Transway Crescent and South Service Road.

In preparation for station construction, crews will begin conducting preparatory activities and utility works including surveying, locating utilities, and drilling boreholes to obtain additional information on sub-surface utilities and ground conditions in various locations along Eglinton.

Metrolinx is making progress on the Crosstown project. Construction of a launch shaft east of Brentcliffe Road is complete and assembly of two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) is nearing completion. Utility relocation and headwall construction along Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe and Bayview started in January 2014. Some works along the road have been completed and others are progressing well. The Crosstown Team appreciates the patience of our neighbours while we work to build transit. Read more »
The Eglinton Crosstown Project is building the Eglinton Line, a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with a 10-kilometre underground tunnel in its central section. When it’s complete, the line will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and will be up to 60% faster than bus service today. Read more »
The Eglinton Crosstown LRT tunnel boring machines 'Don' and 'Humber' will begin their journey westward on September 29, 2015, marking another milestone toward the completion of the new LRT.
The westbound tunnelling will start from the launch shaft located east of Brentcliffe Rd. and will proceed towards Yonge St. Work on the western segment of the tunnel has been underway since June 2013 with four of the 6.5 kilometres already complete. All tunnelling work is expected to be finished by the end of 2016. Read more »
