Utility Relocations at Laird Station

June 21, 2016

What work is Taking Place?

  • Pending a City of Toronto permit, work will commence to relocate existing Bell utilities at the southwest corner of Eglinton Avenue East and Laird Drive and to make way for the future Laird station.

  • Work is expected to begin as early as June 21, 2016 and will continue for approximately three (3) weeks.
  • Work is permitted between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, 7 days a week.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work is subject to permits and all relevant approvals, and may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Construction will be in the curb lane on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East just west of Laird Drive.
  • Residents and businesses near construction sites should anticipate noise from excavators, bobcats, and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity and removal of debris.

Traffic and Pedestrian Details

  • A short term lane closure of approximately one (1) week is required to accommodate the temporary work zone.
  • Periodic lane closures may occur during the remainder of the works.
  • Pedestrian access will remain either on the existing sidewalk, or on a temporary protected re-routing  around the work site.
