Traffic Light Installation Works at Oakwood Station

August 3, 2016

What Work is Taking Place?

Pending City of Toronto approvals, to prepare for the start of construction at the future Oakwood Station, crews will remove the existing traffic signal and install a temporary traffic signal for pedestrian crossing at 1543 Eglinton Avenue West.  Once the next stage of construction begins in mid-August, the north/south crossing of Eglinton Avenue West at Oakwood Avenue will be closed and the new temporary crossing will facilitate pedestrian movement in the area.

Crews will also remove a traffic light pole and install an additional traffic light arm at the intersection of Eglinton Avenue West and Oakwood Avenue.  A new traffic signal will be introduced to facilitate access for construction vehicles to the Main Entrance.

Timing

  • Works are expected to begin in early August and will take approximately one (1) week to complete
  • Work is permitted between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM. The contractor will not always work during the extended hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances

What to Expect

  • Nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear noise related to saw cutting, jack hammering, trucks, a hydro-vac truck and other construction equipment related to this work.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
