Installation of Dewatering System at Caledonia Station

What Work is Taking Place?

On Saturday, February 25, the dewatering system will be delivered to Caledonia Station and installed.  The dewatering system is comprised of a tank and two pumps, and is used to remove ground water from in between grade-level and the station base in advance of deep excavation.  Temporary pedestrian and traffic changes will be in effect during this work.

Timing 

  • Beginning at 9:00 a.m. for approximately five (5) hours
  • This work may be rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances

Caledonia

What to Expect

  • Temporary traffic changes and pedestrian detours will be in effect
  • Nearby residents may experience noise caused by construction equipment and trucks
  • In addition to construction activity, residents can expect to see equipment and material storage within the designated work zones

Traffic and Pedestrian Details

  • The pedestrian pathway on the north side of Eglinton Avenue West in front of the station will be temporarily closed
  • In addition to the existing westbound curb lane closure, one westbound lane will be temporarily closed
  • A traffic control person will be present to direct construction vehicle traffic
  • Motorists can expect delays and  intermittent traffic disruptions when traveling through the area
  • After this activity, the site will return to the current construction staging
