What Work is Taking Place?

As part of construction of the future Kennedy Station, crews will be relocating storm and sanitary utilities in the vicinity of Ionview Road and Eglinton Avenue East, including performing an east-west crossing across Ionview Road.

A temporary closure of Ionview Road is required to complete this work as early as May 7, 2018. The work is part of a larger upgrade and relocation of utilities as part of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT.

Hours of Work

  • Beginning as early as May 7th, 2018 for approximately three (3) weeks.
    • Preparation work for temporary closure begins on Sunday, May 6th at 6 p.m. working through the night until 6 a.m. on Monday, May 7th
  • Work is permitted between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, seven (7) days a week. The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion. 
  • Occasional overnight work may be required. Metrolinx will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout.                 
  • Ionview Road will be closed 24/7 during this work.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • There will be no access to Ionview Road from Eglinton Avenue East.
  • TTC bus stops may be relocated away from work zones.
  • For safety, fencing, dust cloth, barriers and scaffolding may be erected around work zones.
  • Noise, dust and lighting from to activity can be expected.
  • Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when traveling near work zones.

Traffic Impacts

  • There will be no access to Ionview Road from Eglinton Avenue East.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

Pedestrian Impacts

  • Temporary pedestrian rerouting around work zones may be necessary to accommodate this work.
  • Signage will be posted to direct pedestrians.

TTC Impacts

  • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders.
  • Please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.

Travelling Smart During Construction

  • Travel delays are expected with construction. Please allow extra time for your journey.
  • Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Eglinton Crosstown LRT construction.
