UPDATED: Support of Excavation Works at the North End of Kennedy GO Station Platform as Part of Eglinton Crosstown LRT

What Work is Taking Place?

As part of continued support of excavation works (shoring) for the future Kennedy Station, crews will continue work on the north end of the GO platform as part of the GO Transit improvements.

To facilitate these improvements, installation of support of excavation are also being made to the GO Transit Stouffville Corridor at Kennedy GO Station starting as early as Saturday, September 8, 2018.

Work will take approximately three (3) months to complete.

Hours of Work

  • Beginning as early as Saturday, September 8 at 6 AM until September 9 at 6 PM.
  • Work is expected to last approximately three (3) months. 
    • SOE work will be performed on a 36-hour basis, on recurring weekends.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Noise and vibrations may be heard and felt in the buildings surrounding the construction zone.
  • Nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear trucks, excavators, backhoes, a pile drill, drill rig, crane, concrete trucks, and other construction equipment and may experience dust from drilling activity and debris removal.
  • Heavy truck traffic entering and exiting the work zone can be expected. In addition to construction activity, residents can expect to see equipment, material storage and movement within designated work zones.
  • For safety, fencing, dust cloth, barriers, and scaffolding may be erected around work zones.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • There should not be impacts to traffic and pedestrians from this work. 
  • The work will be performed within a secure work zone. 
  • The existing set up within Kennedy Station will not be changed.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

GO Transit Impacts

  • Please listen for GO Transit announcements for where to board and exit train.

TTC Impacts

  • There should be no impact to TTC transit services (bus, subway, and rapid transit) from this work.
