Construction Notice - Mount Pleasant Station - Watermain Repair Update

September 18, 2018

UPDATE ON WATERMAIN REPAIRS AT MOUNT PLEASANT STATION

Information as of 5:00 p.m. on September 18, 2018

What Work is Taking Place?

On Monday September 17, 2018, a watermain ruptured during support of excavation activities on the southwest corner of Mt. Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East.

The main was not struck by equipment. Rather, the nearby works may have caused the very old infrastructure to rupture.

Valves were turned off so that crews could perform repairs to the main, resulting in a water shut-off for 223 Eglinton Avenue East, Eglinton Junior Public School, and 801 Mt. Pleasant Road, Moore Place.

Water service was expected to be restored by 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 18.  However, initial repairs were unsuccessful, and further repairs are necessary.  As the problem was not caused by a direct strike, crews have been challenged to isolate and repair the exact source of the leak.

Repair work is underway.  It is estimated that repairs will be complete and water service will be restored by 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday September 18.  Repairs and restoration may be completed sooner or later than expected.  Crews are working with Toronto Water to restore service as soon as possible.

If necessary, crews may work overnight to complete repairs.  In the event that this is required, overnight noise and lighting can be expected.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience as repair works are completed.
