UPDATE: New Mining Activities at Laird Station
WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?
As work progresses underground, final lining works will begin on sections of the caverns where mining excavation is complete.
- Waterproofing and final lining will occur inside of the complete caverns.
- Large concrete pours will be required periodically throughout final lining construction works.
- Concrete pours require continuous supply of concrete and at this time concrete will be delivery to tunnel level via the Main Entrance site.
TIMING
- Between late November and the end of 2018 there will be at least three (3) concrete pours.
- Continuous pours will last between 10 – 14 hours and will begin at 7:00 a.m.
- Mining works occur on a 24 hour schedule.
WHAT TO EXPECT & TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS
- Approximately 54 concrete trucks will be required per pour, an average of 5 trucks per hour.
- Three trucks will be staged at a time inside of the Main Entrance site.
- Trucks will enter the north side of the construction site from Eglinton Avenue East and leave from the east side of the site on to Laird Drive.
