Weekend Intersection Paving Traffic Restriction at Pharmacy Avenue

What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the ongoing pavement reconstruction works at intersections along Eglinton Avenue East between Victoria Park Avenue and Birchmount Road in support of construction of the future surface stops, crews will be conducting pavement reconstruction works at the Pharmacy Avenue intersection along Eglinton Avenue East.

Work began in November 2018 and will continue with two (2) weekend intersection traffic restrictions of Pharmacy Avenue as early as April 6-7 and the weekend of April 13- 14, 2019.

Hours of Work
  • Construction activities will begin on each Friday before these weekends, and will continue during regular working hours (7am- 11pm) and overnight (11 pm- 7am) until the intersection re-opens the following Monday morning.
  • Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavour to provide reasonable notice.
What to Expect
  • The paving reconstruction will be completed within two weekends.
  • There will be a partial traffic restrictions of the intersection with full restrictions to north- south traffic.
  • East- west through traffic will be maintained.
  • Delays can be expected when accessing properties surrounding the work zone.
Pedestrian Impacts

March 30- 31 Weekend
  • One lane of traffic in each direction at the intersection. Traffic will be shifted north along Eglinton Avenue East and Pharmacy Avenue intersection. 
  • No traffic will be permitted south bound on Pharmacy Avenue.
  • The north south crosswalk on the west of Eglinton Avenue East and Pharmacy Avenue intersection will be closed.
April 13-14 weekend
  • One lane of traffic in each direction at the intersection. Traffic will be shifted south along Eglinton Avenue East and Pharmacy Avenue intersection.
  • No traffic will be permitted north bound on Pharmacy Avenue.
  • The north south crosswalk on the west of Eglinton Avenue East and Pharmacy Avenue intersection will be closed.
TTC Impacts
  • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders.
  • Route 67A and 67B buses will be diverted (please see TTC diversion maps).
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
