What Work is Taking Place?
As early as Saturday, November 30, 2019, a new traffic configuration will be implemented at Allen Road and Eglinton Avenue West to accommodate construction of Cedarvale Station. Eglinton Avenue West will be reduced to one westbound lane between Park Hill Road and Allen Road South. The dedicated eastbound left turn lane for the TTC bus loop and Allen Road North will remain during this traffic stage.
The traffic change will begin as early as 8 p.m. and take approximately twelve (12) hours to complete. This configuration will be in place for approximately four (4) months until March 2020. During this stage, a mobile crane will be erected within the main entrance site located on the north side of Eglinton Avenue between Park Hill Road and Allen Road South. A new work zone will be erected on Eglinton Avenue, immediately south of the existing main entrance site and sidewalk, to provide a clearance area for the crane which will facilitate the safe loading of construction materials and equipment into main entrance.
All pedestrian routes will remain the same. Concrete barriers and fences will be put in place to delineate pedestrians from work zones. To ensure pedestrian safety, traffic control personnel will be present while the crane is lifting live loads. During these activities, pedestrians may experience intermittent sidewalk interruptions.
