What Work is Taking Place

As part of construction of the future surface alignment for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews will install three permanent shelters for the westbound stop at Pharmacy Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East. The permanent shelters will be installed as early as April 16, 2020 and assembly will last through April 24, 2020.

Work includes crane installation and shelter assembly; one lane of westbound traffic will be restricted on Eglinton Avenue East and the northbound curb lane on Pharmacy Avenue will be restricted for right turns only.

Hours of Work 

The new traffic configuration will be implemented as early as April 16, 2020, lasting through April 24, 2020.

Work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. 

Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. 

 

What to Expect 

A crane will be in place in the existing work zone east of Pharmacy Avenue in the middle of Eglinton Avenue East to facilitate shelter installation.

The shelter structures will be delivered to the existing work zone to be lifted into place by the crane.

Minimal noise from construction equipment, such as cranes, trucks and generators, as well as site lighting can be expected.

Training and controls are in place to reduce the noise produced by equipment and workers. 

 

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts 

The east side crosswalk will remain closed for the duration of the work.

One lane of westbound traffic will be restricted east of Pharmacy Avenue on Eglinton Avenue East.

The northbound curb lane on Pharmacy Avneue will be restricted for right turns only.  

A minimum of one lane of eastbound and westbound through traffic will be maintained during this work 

Emergency services access will be maintained at all times. 

 

TTC Impacts

All temporary TTC bus stops will remain in their current locations.

Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely, while minimizing impact on the community and customers
