What Work is Taking Place?

As part of construction of the future surface alignment for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews will install the final two permanent shelters at Pharmacy Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East at the south platform. Installation will begin as early as April 27, 2020 through to May 15, 2020. Lane closures will be required for this work (depicted below). 

 

Hours of Work 

Shelter installation will begin as early as April 27, 2020 through to May 15, 2020. 

Work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. 

Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. 

 

What to Expect

A crane will be in place in the existing guideway work zone east of Pharmacy Ave to facilitate shelter installation.

The shelter structures will be delivered to the existing work zone to be lifted into place by the crane.

Noise and lighting from construction equipment and vehicles can be expected.

 

Traffic and Pedestrian Details

The east side crosswalk will remain closed for the duration of the work.

Eastbound traffic will be limited to one left turn lane and one shared through and right turn lane. 

One eastbound lane will be available east of Pharmacy Ave.

The westbound left turn movement will be prohibited. 

The northbound curb lane on Pharmacy Avenue will be available for right turns only.

A minimum of one lane in each direction will be maintained during this work.

Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

 

TTC Details

All temporary TTC bus stops will remain in their current locations.

Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely, while minimizing impact on the community and customers.

 

Travelling Smart during Construction

Travel delays are expected with the Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
