What: Crews will relocate underground utilities beneath the Eglinton Avenue roadway and in the vicinity of Petman Avenue.
Why: Headwalls are required to be in place prior to the arrival of tunnel boring machines at each of the station and emergency exit building locations. Construction of emergency exit buildings requires utilities to be moved safely out of the way before work begins. Depending on site conditions, gas, hydro, water mains, sewers, traffic and street lighting, as well as telephone lines, will be relocated to allow for construction.
When: Starting as soon as early January 2015, crews will occupy three lanes on the north side of Eglinton Avenue for several months in the area west of Cardiff Road to Falcon Street, to relocate utilities in advance of the emergency exit building construction. Some work may be rescheduled or adjusted due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
Where: Construction will be in place on Eglinton Avenue East, from approximately west of Cardiff Road to Falcon Street for several months to relocate utilities and to construct the emergency exit building.
Within the traffic control zone on the north side of Eglinton Avenue, there will be rolling construction between Cardiff Road and Falcon Street. Rolling construction in the traffic control zone may temporarily block parts of driveways. However, all driveways will remain accessible to vehicular traffic. Please take care when travelling near construction areas.
Traffic Details
Traffic patterns in the area will continue to change and shift during different stages of work. All work zones will be separated from the right-of-way with traffic cones, concrete barriers and/or fencing. Traffic delays are expected during construction. Please watch the traffic signs and take care when travelling near construction areas.
Transit Information
For the safety of transit riders, both eastbound and westbound TTC bus stops in the affected area will be relocated. Watch for posted signs and future information indicating the new locations.
Pedestrian Information
To ensure the safety of pedestrians, the sidewalk on the north side of Eglinton Avenue between Cardiff Road and Forman Avenue will be temporarily diverted to the sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton Avenue, and cross at the street at Banff Road and Falcon Street. For safety reason, pedestrians will be separated from construction with a chain link fence. Access to stores along Eglinton will be maintained.
Work Hours
Most of the work will be carried out between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., 7 days a week. In certain situations, some late night and/or early morning works may be required to complete the work and keep construction moving. The contractor will not always work during the extended hours, but may do so at its discretion.
Noise and Vibration
Noise and vibration associated with construction can be expected with this work.

Transforming transit across the middle of Toronto will involve significant road works. Construction will be visible along the corridor and on some side streets. There will be short-term local street closures and turning restrictions to allow for the construction to take place. Metrolinx, City of Toronto staff and your elected officials are working closely together to monitor and make adjustments to the local road configurations, work zones and other day to day items such as signage and temporary adjustments.
Please support your local businesses during construction.
